Blog Tour & Review: Breaking Nova by Jessica Sorensen

Warning: This book contains mature subject matter and may be inappropriate for some readers.
Not recommended for readers under the age of 17.

Nova and Quinton are two young people dealing with great tragedies in their past.

Nova lives her life by the numbers, constantly counting. From the time she wakes up, she counts anything and everything throughout the day to keep control over her life, her emotions, her pain. After returning from school, which gave her a reprieve from her grief, she comes home to the source of her pain and falls ever more into despair.

Quinton just wants to be numb. He doesn't want to feel anything and doesn't think he deserves to anyway. After being kicked out of his home, he turns to the only person that will take him in. A place where he can get high and have sex with no emotion or responsibilities.

When their paths cross, Nova and Quinton find themselves unable to fight all the feelings that start to develop, no matter how hard they try. Nova discovers ways to ease the need to count, one of them is Quinton. And Quinton begins to feel...

Then, a trip with their friends changes everything.

DARKEST LEGACY Review & Giveaway Winner!

Last week I did an author spotlight on Allyson Gottlieb and her novella DARKEST LEGACY. There were all kinds of fun things going on: author interview, excerpt from the book, Tamara's playlist, a book trailer and cast pics and bios. If you missed any, check them out in the ARCHIVES.

Today, I'm giving my review and announcing the winner of the giveaway! But, first, lets take a look at the book.

Guest Review by Sydney: Remembrance (Transcend Time #1) by Michelle Madow

Today is an especially exciting day on the blog for me. I had this idea of having teenagers read books from indie authors and write reviews on them. The response from the authors was amazing. I had several authors offer up their books for the cause.

I finally found a young girl more than willing to help. She's an avid reader and an aspiring author. She's already written some short stories (which someday I hope to share with you all, if she'll let me) and submitted them online.

I'm very excited to have Miss Sydney share her thoughts with us. Let's give her a round of applause!

Without further ado.

HAUNTING: THE DUSY CHRONICLES Cover Reveal, Review & Givewaway

Welcome to the NEW cover reveal for

HAUNTING:
The Dusty Chronicles
Book 1

by BJ Sheldon

I had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous BJ Sheldon at UtopYA Con 2013 in Nashville. Introduced to me by the amazing Carol "Mama" Kunz. Upon introduction, Carol suggested that BJ give her book to me to read, review and "pimp out," as it were. BJ gladly obliged, and even signed her book for me! YAY!

To be honest, I didn't know if I was going to like the book. Although the barn looked haunting and I was curious to know it's significance in the story, the original cover (below)

didn't quite have me this excited to read it...

More like...

But the summary caught my attention,
and I ended up reading it not long after leaving Nashville.

Now that I've got you all warmed up
(especially with a picture of Jensen)

Here's some info on the book:

BOOK REVIEW: Paranormalcy

Paranormalcy is Book 1 of the Paranormalcy series by Kiersten White.

Basically, it's about a teenage girl, abandon when she was young, bounced from foster home to foster home until she was found by this organization that deals with paranormal beings. Now, when I first heard paranormal, I thought ghosts...okay. But no, it's vampires, werewolves, banshees, hags, apparently zombies, and all kinds of other mythological creatures, including faeries, not fairies, the cute ones with glitter and wings, faeries, the tricky ones.

Evie, short for Evelyn,  has a gift to see beyond what other humans see. She can see past the glamours that mosst paranormals project. She can see the beings as they truly are. She has been with this agency for about half of her life, using her unique gift to help capture paranormals. It's her home, with people she considers her family. When an unknown paranormal breaks in, they discover that something has been killing paranormals. She will soon discover who she is, where she came from and what her purpose is.

BOOK REVIEW: Clockwork Princess

It took me nearly a month since I purchased this book to actually crack it open and start reading it. I don't know why it took me so long. I was extremely excited to read the last book in The Infernal Devices series. But, at the same time, knowing it was the last book, I think I didn't really want it to end. So, maybe if I put off reading it the end wouldn't come so quickly.
However, once I started reading it, I couldn't think about anything else. I just wanted to know what happened next. I read when I could, between work, kids, meals, husband, and whatever else had to be done, over about 3 days.

BOOK REVIEW: Under The Dome by Stephen King

This book review is extra special because not only is it my first review on my new blog, but also, this is the very first Stephen King book I've read. And...not only is this my first King novel, but it's the biggest book I've ever read! At 1,072 pages, it's quite huge and a little difficult to hold at times.

Book Description:  Just down Route 119 in Chester’s Mill, Maine, all hell is about to break loose. . . .

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day, a small town is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and rain down flaming wreckage. A gardener’s hand is severed as the dome descends. Cars explode on impact. Families are separated and panic mounts. No one can fathom what the barrier is, where it came from, and when—or if—it will go away. Now a few intrepid citizens, led by an Iraq vet turned short-order cook, face down a ruthless politician dead set on seizing the reins of power under the dome. But their main adversary is the dome itself. Because time isn’t just running short. It’s running out.
